SCIENCE INTEGRATED PROJECT

Objective: The student will be able to:
·       identify most safe and fuel efficient cars
·       list examples of cars running on petrol, diesel and CNG
·       analyze the advantages and disadvantages of using petrol, diesel and CNG as fuels for car

Material Required: (each material per group)
To be sourced out by the students: scrapbook, gum, picture (cut- outs of the model of the selected cars), safety scissors, sketch pens, colourful pencils, crayons
(Note: materials other than the scrap book may vary as per the students’ discretion)

Preparation prior to session:
·       Inform the students  to find out the following:
®    the advantages and disadvantages  of fuels like petrol, diesel and CNG
®    one car model that works on petrol, diesel and CNG within a price range from 2 lacs to 20 lacs

·       Draw the given table on the class board and ask students to copy and complete it.

Procedure to carry out the project:
1.     Inform students to decorate the scrapbook using sketches, colour pencils ( the decoration may vary as per students discretion)
2.     Inform students to write the name of the topic allotted to them in the scrap book.
3.     Ask the students to paste the picture cutout of the car model in the scrapbook.
4.     Instruct that each student in the group needs to do research on the assigned criteria and collect related information and pictures (related to cars) in order to create the scrap book presentation.
5.     Inform that the students need to orally present their scrapbook presentation in the class.
6.     Ask students to draw inference based on their observations and research about the most fuel efficient car.
7.     Instruct the students to write their conclusion based on their research including the following points:
®    which car they would like to  buy and
®    the reason for their choice
8.     Viva questions: Ask 2 questions per student (1 mark each) based on the report submitted. Questions may vary as per the teacher’s discretion.
  • Sample viva questions:
Ø  What are the features you would like to have in your car?
Ø  Is your car eco friendly? How?

Assess students’ performance using the following criteria:
